We have progress! So far this month the earth movers have completed all the sand pads for the 2nd stage of our house build. The retaining wall was finished last week, a limestone retaining wall that runs along the side of the pool. The Coogee Contracting guys did the best job, very neat so we were really happy with that! At the same time our brickwork for the chimney was completed in the games room which looks good as that room is starting to take shape. So the last three weeks have been chaotic with alot of tradesmen working around each other! The Geo thermal pump also arrived last week.
This week we have been working hard digging in half of the trenches for the footings so we can move along to save some time, the concrete guys were here today and finished them off which is great so hopefully by next week some walls can start to go up!
Tomorrow will be busy with Marcos, John and their boys doing the plumbing pre-lay and the others.... one compacting footings, one testing the compaction and concrete guys back to put the steel bars into the footings after that if all goes well!
We are building our dream home and have decided to take it on ourselves as owner builders. Doing as much ourselves as needed to keep cost down and also contracting work out to the relevant trades. The Rammed Earth home is designed on Eco - Friendly Sustainable Principles. Since our planning process we have been able to include a few more of these which is very exciting.
